Waiting on Wednesday: My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.  It’s designed for bloggers to spotlight the upcoming releases that they simply can’t wait to read.

My pick this week..."My Life After Now" by Jessica Verdi
Expected Release Date: April, 2013

From Goodreads:

Lucy just had the worst week ever. Seriously, mega bad. And suddenly, it’s all too much—she wants out. Out of her house, out of her head, out of her life. She wants to be a whole new Lucy. So she does something the old Lucy would never dream of.

And now her life will never be the same. Now, how will she be able to have a boyfriend? What will she tell her friends? How will she face her family? Now, every moment is a precious gift. She never thought being positive could be so negative. But now, everything’s different…because now she’s living with HIV.

My students always request YA contemporary...throw in an angst-ridden protagonist and they are hooked.  Can't WAIT to get my hands on this.

  1. This one looks good, but I'll have to save it for when I'm in the mood for a darker, emotional read.

    Reading Lark's WOW

  2. I saw this one Goodreads. This isn't something I would read usually though, I am very intrigued by it though.

    New Follower. My WoW

  3. I'm so happy to see that more authors are using difficult subjects (bullying, sexual abuse etc). I certainly think that these books can give hope and I can't wait to read this one. I've never seen a book about HIV before.

  4. I love contemporary YA! Both the fluffy kind and the ones that tackle more serious issues. Adding this one to my list.
